Graduation Requirement

Junior and Senior Parents whose child has not met standard:
As you know, this senior class, (Class of 2008) is the first class that
needs to pass the WASL. Information about graduation requirements and WASL
is very fluid and changing from the State as seniors across the state
approach graduation.
If your junior or senior
student has not passed the WASL, the following scores can be substituted and
used in lieu of the WASL score for graduation:
Math:
-
SAT: Math score of 470
or higher
-
ACT: Math score of 19
or higher
-
AP Calculus or AP
Stats: Score of 3 or higher
-
PSAT Math score of 47
or higher. Registration deadline for this years PSAT is Weds., Sept.
26, 2007.

Reading:

AP English: score of 3
or higher on language and composition test

SAT and ACT scores,
the state will identify the score by December 1, 2007
Writing:

AP English: score of 3
or higher on language and composition test

AP US History score of
3 or higher
-
AP World History score
of 3 or higher

SAT and ACT scores,
the state will identify the score by December 1, 2007
If your student has an IEP,
please discuss this with your student's case manager. Some special education
students will be working towards a Certificate of Individual Achievement
(CIA).
FYI: Some people may
think that the Math WASL does not matter....well it still does

If your junior or
senior student has not passed the Math WASL, they still need to take it
each year or meet one of the scores listed above under the math section.

They also need to be
in enrolled in a math class that is next in the math sequence or an
alternative math course approved by the school.

In order to graduate,
students are still required to pass the Reading and Writing WASL tests
by the end of their senior year.
