Pre-College Requirements
for Washington State Colleges/Universities
  • Minimum Requirements:
  • English – 4.00 credits
  • Math – 3.00 credits
    • Up through Algebra 2
  • Social Studies- 3.00 credits
  • Science – 2.00 credits
    • 1 year Chemistry or Physics
  • World Lang. – 2.00 credits
  • Fine Arts – 1.00 credit

High School Transcript
  • Understanding the transcript


    • There are six sections of the transcript


    • Student Information (name, birth date, parents names)
    • Schools attended (previous and current)
    • Course Designation Key (designates type of classes taken; H for honors, T for tech prep)
    • Academic Record (organized by semesters completed) – has 5 columns: Course code, Description of class taken, Letter grade received, Credit earned, Credit attempted, and Course designation key.
    • Report Record and Cumulative Summary:  arranged by semesters and lists credits earned & attempted, grade point average (GPA) earned, attempted & GPA points & finally the cumulative GPA.
    • Additional State Requirements: for Certificate of Academic Achievement, High School and Beyond Plan, & Culminating Project.

  • You can figure it out for yourself!
    • It may look a little hard but it really isn’t
    • This information will help you complete the High School and Beyond Plan

  • What will you need?
    • Your transcript
    • A credit evaluation form (blank):  Lists all the high school requirements you need
    • LHS Course Directory Guide www.liberty.issaquah.wednet.edu/
      • NOTE:  Open Liberty’s website and go to Counseling page, then select Liberty High School Course Guide.
    • An understanding that  a semester credit is equal to .50 credits
    • A pencil and a little bit of time

Finishing Credit Evaluation
  • Check the last few requirements:
    • Physical Education 2.00 credits
    • PE 9, PE 2, Fitness & Conditioning, Weights


    • General Electives 9.00 credits
    • classes you choose - may include more math, science, social studies, English, PE, Art, etc.


    • Senior Core 1.00 credit
    • additional classes in English, Math, Science, Social Studies, or Foreign Language taken in your senior year


    • Senior Elective 1.00 credit
    • classes that earn a letter grade taken in your senior year

  • Complete the following sections:
    • Credit Evaluation information from high school transcript


    • WASL scores in Reading, Writing, Math


    • Grade-level Culminating Projects completed


    • Top 3 Career Interests


    • Special Courses/Programs of Interest


    • Extra-curricular Activities


    • Part-time work and/or Community Service


    • Internship and/or Summer Enrichment plans


    • 5th year plan – plans within 4 months of graduation


    • What tests do you plan to take?

How & when do you register?
  • Registration Form
    • Read directions first
    • Complete the form (signatures included)
    • Turn it in by the date required

Other considerations -NEVAC
  • Available for 11th and 12th graders
  • Courses are taken at other high schools
  • Special Programs include – Auto Body Repair, Health Occupations, Horticulture, Fire Service Training, Criminal Justice, etc.
  • See Mrs. Fesser, Career Specialist

Other considerations - Running Start
  • Need to have junior status
  • Take required entrance tests for math and English at the Community College
  • Attend mandatory information session @ college
  • Determine full-time or part-time status
  • Have appointment with your counselor
  • Required to return all forms signed
  • Check on WASL Reading, Writing, Math scores
  • Earn both high school and college credit
  • Tuition paid by the district

  • Review your registration forms
  • Find out what classes are required
  • Keep an eye on pre-college requirements
  • Check on pre-requisites –
    • go to LHS Course Guide online
    • www.liberty.issaquah.wednet.edu
  • Choose electives and alternates
  • Turn in registration forms on time

Registration Forms – 12th Grade
  • 12th Grade – Seniors – Class requirements - www.liberty.issaquah.wednet.edu


    • Senior English (1.00) take English class each semester –see page 6 of LHS Course Guide


    • Senior Social Studies (.50) choose from list on page 6 of LHS Course Guide


    • Senior Core Elective (1.00) choose from English, social studies, math, science OR world language


    • Regarding WASL reading or writing scores – if you did not pass WASL reading or writing, you MUST be enrolled in ILS 12 in addition to your Senior English classes


    • Regarding WASL Math – if you did not pass WASL math, you MUST be enrolled in Segmented Math in addition to earning credit for the next level of math you need to take


    • Additional Electives – choose what is still needed for graduation, pre-college or what prepares you for beyond high school


    • Pre-college requirements – make sure you are taking what’s needed if you plan to attend a 4 year college/university after graduation


    • Senior Waivers – 4 waivers (2 per semester) are allowed with approval of parent and counselor. Note - for every “F” on your transcript, a senior waiver is lost

Registration Forms – 11th Grade
  • 11th Grade – Juniors – Class requirements
    • English 11 (1.00) – can take regular or AP English Language
      • If you did not pass WASL reading or writing, you MUST enroll in ILS 11 in addition to English 11


    • U.S. History (1.00) – can take regular or AP US History


    • Math – suggested - take the next academic level (check pre-college requirements)
      • If you did not pass WASL math, you MUST be enrolled in PARM in addition to earning credit for the next level of math you are to take


    • Science – suggested – (check pre-college requirements)


    • Other: check credit evaluation for other requirements in PE, Fine Arts, Occupational, and General Electives
