Dear Liberty Families,
As we head into October, we have some items of interest for you. Please take a few minutes to read this e-news thoroughly.
First Quarter Progress Report Grades are coming!
Our first grading period of the year is here! Teachers are required to have mid-quarter progress report grades entered into Skyward by Friday, October 9th, at 2:00pm. You can then log into Family Access (or your student can log into Student Access) to get a snap shot of how your student is progressing in their classes. If your student has grades that are a C- or lower in one or more of their classes, you will receive a paper copy of the mid-quarter progress report in the U.S. mail approximately one week later. Family Access/Student Access also allows you to view attendance. Questions regarding Family Access can be directed to our Registrar, Leanne Riding at 425-837-4853 or via email at ridingl@issaquah.wednet.edu.
Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT)
The deadline for sophomores and juniors to sign up for the PSAT is Friday, October 9th. If you have questions, please review the PSAT information sheet on the website, or contact Bernie Gibson at 425-837-4805. The school day schedule for test day, October 14th, is available here.
Senior Class Meeting
Seniors and Senior Parents – The Senior Class meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 13th during second period. In addition to information about the upcoming Homecoming events and the Grad Night party, seniors will receive a catalog and ordering information from our Jostens representative regarding caps, gowns, announcements and other graduation supplies. This will be the only opportunity for students to hear from the representative. Seniors who are absent that day or who attend Running Start classes in the morning can pick up a graduation packet in the counseling office or from Ms. Reischl in Room 511.
Issaquah Schools Foundation – Calling for Kids
As you may have learned in a recent letter mailed to your home, the Issaquah Schools Foundation Calling for Kids campaign funds essential programs and resources for students in our school and across the District. These programs include, but are not limited to academic enrichment grants, after-school homework clubs, one-on-one mentor programs, curriculum updates, and educator professional development. High-school student volunteers will be calling families to explain the campaign and answer any questions you may have on October 20th and 21st. Click here to learn how you can participate in this campaign.
PTSA Information
All information pertaining to the Liberty High School PTSA can be found on their website . Here are a couple of upcoming events.
The 2nd annual Campus Beautification Event will be taking place at Liberty on Saturday, October 10th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. We need parents who can work/assist with supervising students and/or provide donations of fresh fruit, cookies and bottled water. All students are welcome and will receive community service hours for participating. Students (and parents who are interested in getting their hands dirty) should come dressed to work. Please bring gloves and gardening tools such as rakes, shovels and wheel barrows if possible. Please mark all tools with your name so you are sure to get them back at the end of the day. If you have any questions, or are interested in assisting with this cause, please contact Maryann DiPasquale at dearmaryann@comcast.net or 425-271-4002.
The next General Membership Meeting of the Liberty High PTSA is scheduled for Tuesday, October 13th, 7:00-8:30 pm in Room 121. This is a great opportunity to become familiar with the school and to hear updates from Principal Mike Deletis. We will also be discussing Initiative 1033.
You can still join PTSA if you haven’t had the chance yet this school year. Registration forms are available on the PTSA website.
Booster Club
The next Liberty Booster Club Meeting is scheduled for Monday, October 12th in Room 121. For more information, please visit the Booster Club website.
Friday Night Football
The Liberty vs. Hazen game will be played at Liberty this Friday, October 9th at 7:00 pm. Although the game is being played at Liberty, Hazen is the home team. This means that all Liberty students will have to pay admission to this game and the PRE-PAY ADMISSION CARDS will not be honored.
Why are we the visiting team on our own field? Last year Liberty hosted Hazen and this year it is Hazen’s turn to host. Hazen H.S. shares Renton Stadium with both Renton H.S and Lindbergh H.S. Due to schedule conflicts with Renton Stadium, the decision was made for Hazen to host the game on our field on Friday rather than play on Thursday. This arrangement benefits both teams. Our fans will sit on the home side, but our players will be wearing their “away” white uniforms. Join our players and show your Liberty spirit by coming to this game in white!
Admission cost for the October 9th Liberty vs. Hazen football game:
Adults and students without ASB $5.00
Liberty Students with ASB, students K-8 $3.00
Seniors, kids five and under FREE
We expect a big crowd at the game so please arrive early. See you there!
