Dear Liberty Parents,
Today, about three hours into PSAT testing, our fire alarm at school went off. We believe it went off due to mechanical issues related to the power outages yesterday. When the fire alarm went off, we directed students to close their booklets, leave them on their desk, and everyone exited the building with staff. Each classroom was locked and I personally checked each classroom in the testing area to insure it was locked.
Students were outside for twenty-six minutes. When the fire department cleared us to return to class, the testing resumed. We adjusted the lunch and daily schedule to make the day work for all students.
Due to the fire alarm going off in the middle of the test, we will submit a testing irregularity sheet to the College Board, the organization that oversees the PSAT. It is our hope and current expectation that we are granted an exception due to unforeseen mechanical problems. If you have any questions, you are welcome to contact me, deletism@issaquah.wednet.edu. Thank you.
