Dear Liberty Families,
It’s an exciting week at Liberty High School – Homecoming Week has arrived! The Patriot spirit is shining bright! We kicked off Homecoming last Friday with a great pep assembly.
This past Sunday, approximately 100 student volunteers along with parents and staff advisors gathered at school to decorate. Each class was assigned a hall and a theme. You can walk into the French Quarter of New Orleans, visit the Statue of Liberty in New York, go for a horseback ride across the plains of Texas or visit the sights of sunny California – all without leaving our building. The decorations are awesome – way to go Patriots!
The students and staff are dressing up this week as well, showing even more Patriot spirit. Today is “Mardi Gras Day” with beads, feathers and glitter masks! Tomorrow is “California Day”, wear your (appropriate!) beach wear and chill. Friday is our “All School Spirit Day”. Wear your blue & green!
We have a full calendar of events posted on our website at http://www.liberty.issaquah.wednet.edu/. Come out and show your “Love for Liberty.” All events lead up to the big Parade and Football game this Friday and the Homecoming dance on Saturday. Below are some specifics related to the parade, football game, and the dance:
Friday October 23rd
Homecoming Parade: Who doesn’t love a parade? The Homecoming Parade will begin – rain or shine - at Maywood Middle School at 5:00 pm and ends in Liberty’s parking lot. Cheer on the Liberty band, see the class floats, drill team, cheer squad, NJROTC, Improv Club, Drama, athletic teams and more. The road leading from Maywood to Liberty will be closed from 5:00-5:30 pm.
Tailgate Party: Immediately following the conclusion of the parade, at approximately 5:30 pm, a few local businesses, the Liberty DECA store, students and their friends and families will be tailgating in the main Liberty parking lot flagpole area. The Liberty Booster Club will be grilling at the stadium concessions area.
Football game: The much anticipated Bellevue vs. Liberty football game is this Friday! Both teams are undefeated in the KingCo 3A league and are ranked 2nd (Bellevue) and 3rd (Liberty) in the state. This is going to be a great game! The outcome of this game will determine the KingCo league championship and impact the seeding for the state tournament. The gates will open at 5:30 pm and kick-off is at 7:00 pm.
Pre-game sales: Pre-sale tickets to the football game are on sale now! The bookkeeper will be open for parents on Thursday and Friday from 7:30-8:00 am and after school Wednesday and Thursday from 2:15-3:00 pm. There will be no after school ticket sales on Friday. The bookkeeper is also open during student lunches, however, the line during lunches will be filled with students purchasing tickets to the Homecoming dance or buying additional tickets to the football game.
Parking: We expect a large crowd and anticipate the parking lot will fill up. Both parking lot gates will be open for entrance and exit. Briarwood Elementary will be open for overflow parking. If you park on any of the side streets in the neighborhood, please do not block any driveways or park illegally. You could be ticketed or towed.
Ticket sales at the game: We will have a third line selling tickets at the ticket booth on Friday night.
Overflow seating: The track area near the scoreboard will be opened up for standing room. We will have a small amount of additional bleacher seating in other areas as well.
Saturday, October 24th
Homecoming Dance: Tickets are available for purchase from the bookkeeper for the Homecoming Dance, Liberty on the Road. The cost for tickets is $15.00 each with ASB, $17.00 each without ASB. Please note that this ticket pricing ends tomorrow, Thursday, October 22nd! There will be no ticket sales on Friday. Tickets may be purchased the night of the dance for $20.00 each, regardless of whether or not you have an ASB sticker.
Early pictures are available at the school from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm. The dance starts at 8:30 pm and ends at 11:30 pm. Remember, students and their guests must present their school ID cards along with their tickets to be admitted to the dance. If you are picking up your student, please be here at 11:30pm.
