Liberty E-News January 22, 2008

College Planning Night: If you recall, we cancelled it because of poor weather earlier in the month. It has been rescheduled to January 29th at 6:30 pm in the auditorium.  This year, the counselors and career specialist will present their information in about an hour. If you have been to a recent college planning night, the staff presentation will be similar to the past ones. What will be completely new is the parent and student panel that will be available to help answer audience questions about planning for college. We hope to see you there.

Registration for next year’s classes…..

A big part of a successful school experience is careful planning. I encourage you to study the course guide, get involved in your students selection of courses, and ask questions of your student’s teachers, counselors, and administrators. Our job is to make sure each student has challenging courses and give you our recommendations and help guide you and your student to make the right choices.

Once your students register for classes in February we will give you a chance in March to review and make any changes to the courses we have for your student in the computer. Whatever is in the computer at the end of March is final and changes can not be made again until August.

In a previous ENews we mentioned that the course catalog is not being printed this year. It will be available though, along with all the necessary forms online as of Feb. 1, 2008. The counselors will go into classes and present to grade levels on the dates listed below. Once students receive their presentation they have one week to return their course registration form to the counseling office.

Testing is coming…..

Once we get through finals this week the formal district and state testing will occur beginning in February:

Stanford Testing: All freshmen will be taking the Stanford test on Tuesday, Feb. 5th and Thursday, Feb. 7th

during their 5th period class. There is no change to your student’s schedule or our bell schedule.

WASL Testing:

We will have changes to the daily schedule and more information will follow.

AP Testing: May 5–14, dates of testing depend on the subject area. More information will follow.

SAT Prep: Does your student have the SAT in their future this spring? This year we started a SAT Prep class at Liberty. The Winter/Spring class is forming. The registration deadline is Feb. 25, 2008. Please go to www.SatPrep.org to register or call 425-823-1370. You must also register for the SAT test. This can be done at www.collegeboard.com.
