Hello Liberty! Many of you may be squeezing fun out of the last few weeks of your summer, but for us, it is time to get back to work and start communicating about the upcoming school year. So here goes.....
Student schedules: At the end of last school year I had said, "schedule's would be sent home before school started". Well, there is good news and bad news on this topic. The bad news is, we are still adjusting some schedules and we did not want to send home incomplete or misleading schedules. The good news is, you can see your students schedule online by viewing it over Family Access.
If you recall, Family Access has been an online tool to view your student's attendance, schedules, and demographic information. This school year, you will use Family Access to view your student's grades. We will no longer be using Basmati as the online grading tool. Gradebook, our new online grading system-will replace Basmati at the middle and high school level and be fully integrated into the District's Family Access records portal. Think of it as one-stop shopping. Teachers will continue to upload grades at least six times per year for middle school students and eight times per year for high school students. Please read below to see which bullet applies to you.
Fines We have fines totaling over $13,000. That is an unacceptable number. Earlier this summer we sent home reminder postcards about fines. As school draws near, it is time to have your child dig under that pile of clothes, reach under their bed, or clean out their car to find that lost textbook. It is my understanding that students have been permitted to accumulate fines until their senior year. We need to change that and we need students and parents to help out. Many of you already know that students can not register for sports if they have a fine. The same will apply for academics and registering for classes. Students will need to return a book, pay the fine or fee in order to register for classes. If there is a special circumstance that a student or parent would like to explain regarding a book fine or fee, an administrator will be next to the bookkeeper during Patriot Days to listen and discuss the problem. We would be poor stewards of your tax dollars if we neglected this. Please help us address this problem.
Online survey: Parents, we want to hear from you: Please take the District's online survey to help us best meet your student's needs. The elementary parent survey is open now through August 10. The middle and high school surveys will be available Aug. 20-31.
Fall Sports registration: A reminder that sports registration is a two-step process; Students need to see the bookkeeper first and then go to the athletic window to obtain their clearance. It takes time! Monday is also the first day of Patriot Days, so it will be more hectic than usual. If you can, please have your student come in Thursday and Friday, between 9am and 2pm to avoid the last minute rush.
PATRIOT SPORTS COMMUNITY -
You may recall, last year the schools in the KINGCO league decided to charge admission for volleyball. At the end of last year, the KINGCO principals voted to charge admission for gymnastics and soccer (girls and boys) also. Students can still use their ASB cards for home admissions. Because of the increase in cost, we wanted to make your admission to these events was a little easier. This year LIBERTY HIGH SCHOOL WILL BE SELLING PRE-PAID ATHLETIC ADMISSION PUNCH CARDS FOR 2007-2008 HOME ATHLETIC EVENTS.
This card will offer you the convenience of getting into a sporting event without having to remember to bring cash or a check (just don't forget your punch card). For football games, you won't need to stand in the ticket line. You can go directly to the ticket taker to be admitted.
è The punch cards sell for $60.00 (10 adult entries of $6.00/per contest). You can use your card for any adult admission (one punch/entry).
è You can use the card for any of our home athletic events that require admission (Football, Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball, Wrestling, and Gymnastics).
The following language will be on the back side of all pre-paid admission cards.
è THIS CARD IS ONLY GOOD FOR ADMISSION TO REGULAR SEASON, HOME ATHLETIC EVENTS AT LIBERTY HIGH SCHOOL.
è THIS CARD CANNOT BE USED FOR ADMISSION TO ANY HOME JAMBOREE, INVITATIONAL, POST SEASON EVENT, OR ANY NON-ATHLETIC SCHOOL EVENT.
è CARD IS GOOD FOR THE 2007-2008 ATHLETIC SEASONS ONLY. CARD WILL EXPIRE AT THE END OF THE 2008 SPRING SEASON.
è THERE WILL BE NO REFUND OR CREDIT FOR UNUSED PORTIONS OF THIS CARD AT THE END OF THE 2008 SPRING SEASON.
è THE SCHOOL IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR LOST OR STOLEN CARDS.
