Liberty ENews: November 8, 2007

Liberty Parents: We had the drug sniffing dog on campus today. This has been scheduled for approximately three weeks. The dog did not "hit" on any cars. This means, nothing was discovered during the dog's visit.

When the drug sniffing dog is on campus we go into a lockdown. Today our lockdown was during 2nd period and lasted forty-five minutes. Teachers and students continue in classes with their instruction and learning. Students remain in their classes during a lockdown. Students who are arriving on campus during that time are brought into the building and stay in the main office. While the dog is on campus, two LHS administrators and security staff are outside with the dog and his handler. Finally, the dog that visited today was named Scout.

Other LHS news......

The NJROTC unit is involved in two charity drives this month.

  1. The first is "Stockings 4 Soldiers" and it involves bringing in nonperishable food and personal items (shaving cream, razors, deodorant, etc).  We will collect these items in our classroom through November 28th.  They will be then be provided to the Stockings 4 Soldiers organization and mailed to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.

  1. The second drive is Toys-For-Tots which of course is the Marines Corps Reserve program that provides toys for needy families in our local area.  Please pick up a new toy or two and bring them to our classroom or send them in with your cadet.  We are trying to wrap up the Toys-For-Tots drive on November 16th.
