Liberty Parents: Liberty High School is looking for a parent representative to serve on the district's Boundary Review Committee, which will recommend a district-wide border configuration to the School Board to ensure that all schools have the right balance of student enrollment and resources in the future. Every school will have a principal and parent voting representative on the committee who will be responsible for setting aside personal interests to find boundary solutions that are best for Liberty and the district as a whole. Applications are available in the main office and must be returned by December 14th. Our site council will select a representative during our January meeting. The Boundary Review Committee is scheduled to convene on January 30th and meet about every other Wednesday through June. All meetings will be open to the public, and minutes will be posted online. The new boundaries will begin to go into effect fall of 2009, when Pacific Cascade Freshman Campus will convert to a middle school and Skyline and Issaquah High will reclaim their freshmen. The committee will have the authority to look at all boundary options, and it should be close to a final recommendation by the end of the school year. Contact Mike Deletis deletism@issaquah.wednet.edu  for more information about the application process.

Liberty parents: Because you don't have enough to worry about in life.....read up on the "super bug". Public Health Seattle & King County wants you to know that MRSA-although an important health problem-is not any more serious or rampant now than in other years. According to Public Health Seattle & King County, "the news media's recent focus on the most dramatic cases of MRSA does not accurately reflect the spectrum of illness from the bacteria," "Most illnesses caused by MRSA are treatable skin infections that heal with proper wound care."  Issaquah schools and our school nurses are following all recommended procedures for staph prevention, and parents should, too. More information-including a MRSA Q&A and fact sheet-is online.
