COACHING STAFF
SCOTT COLBY, HEAD BASEBALL COACH
Coach Colby is entering his 3rd
year at the helm of the Liberty Patriot Baseball Program. A product of
Evergreen High School (Seattle, WA), Colby played out his college baseball
career at Green River CC (Auburn, WA) where he earned his AA and Speech Degrees,
and at Central Washington University (Ellensburg, WA) where he earned his BAED in
Physical Education and Special Education. Colby earned his Masters Degree
in Leadership in Sport & Exercise from Seattle Pacific University in 2006. Colby is a Hall of Fame Inductee
at Green River and was a 2 year Most Inspirational Award Recipient at Central
(as voted on by his teammates).
Colby's Baseball Coaching Career has seen him in assistant
coaching positions at Evergreen HS, his Alma Mater, in 1992 (Seamount League
Champions) and in 1997. He was then an Assistant Coach at Tyee HS in 1998
before taking over as the Head Coach at Pierce CC at age 25 in 1999-2000.
Colby left coaching for a few years as he pursued a career in athletic
administration holding positions as Athletic Director at Tyee HS (WSSAA Board,
Seamount League AD Secretary, and Seamount League AD President), Sales
Development Representative for the Seattle SuperSonics, and Interim Athletic
Director at Green River CC. While getting back into coaching, Colby has
been the Head Coach at Interlake HS and Chief Sealth HS. Additionally,
Colby is entering his 3rd year as the Head Assistant and Pitching Coach for the Kitsap BlueJackets of the West Coast Collegiate Baseball League.
Colby enjoyed transitioning into his current position at
Liberty in the Spring of 2006. The Patriots finished their 2006 campaign with 12
wins and 10 losses overall; good for a 4th Place finish in the KingCo 3A Regular
Season (8W-6L), and 4th in the KingCo 3A League Tournament (1W-2L). 4
Patriots from the Class of 2006 went on to play college baseball.
Colby's 2007 squad finished with 12 wins and 9 losses to earn
a 4th place finish in the KingCo 3A League regular season (9W-7L).
Unfortunately, the 2007 Patriots were eliminated in the 1st Round of the KingCo
League Tournament by the eventual State Champions in Issaquah HS, their
cross-town rivals. 3 Patriots from the Class of 2007 went on to play
college baseball.
Coach Colby is extremely excited about the potential that the
Patriot Baseball Program has for it's 2008 campaign. The 2008 Patriots
should be very strong up the middle and should be very deep with pitching,
however, the KingCo 3A League will be as strong as ever as it boasts multiple
college prospects within it's member schools.
Coach Colby, his wife Teanah, and their son Rocco live in Seattle, WA.
