Liberty Patriot Fastpitch
Commitment to Excellence!
Tryouts:
- February 25th, 2:40 until roughly
5:30, likely on the softball field rain or shine, with a possibility of
going inside the gyms – be prepared for either scenario.
- Bring:
- Gear: cleats & indoor shoes, softball pants
or sweats (no jeans), mitt, long sleeves/under armour/sweatshirt/rain
gear, bat (optional), visor/hat (optional), catcher’s gear (if
appropriate), … BE PREPARED!!!
- Water/Fluids: we will not have team water
bottles until the weather warms up in hopes of avoiding the exchange of
flu/colds amongst the team.
- Eligibility clearance paper from athletic
secretary Mrs. Lorbeski (it will be blue or gold – you will get this clearance
paper from Mrs. Lorbeski after you have completed & turned in all of
your paperwork to her).
- The specific number of athletes who make both the
Varsity & Junior Varsity teams will be determined during the tryout
& evaluation process.
Unfortunately, we will likely need to make some cuts. Traditionally we have the largest turn
out of all the softball programs in our league & the competition to
make one of the teams is intense.
Playing in the program last year does not guarantee a roster
spot. We expect all of our athletes
to be committed to the sport, to the program, and to their academics. Be 100%
prepared from a softball-skill sense to compete for a spot.
- Tryouts will likely last three days (coach’s
discretion). Coaches will post a
list of who made what team for the girls to check out privately in the
morning. Coach Hartman will be in
his room the next morning to discuss cuts for those wanting an
explanation.
- Your 1st semester grades will
determine your initial eligibility.
1 F = 2 weeks out of competition, 2 or more F’s or below a 2.0 GPA
= 5 weeks out of competition.
Grades, attitude, & commitment will be a factor when evaluating players for the program.
- No excuses!
Please have all paperwork in and be ready to go on the first day of
tryouts. The coaching staff will
look down upon any excuses, and it will
affect the player’s evaluation negatively if they are not cleared to
practice.
Paperwork & Eligibility Requirements:
- Pick up & turn in the following paperwork
from/to Athletic Secretary, Mrs. Lorbeski (837 4806):
- Blue “medical emergency” ½ sheet,
- Four page folder which includes the physical
confirmation sheet, etc.
Winter Workouts:
- Not at all mandatory, but highly encouraged. This is open to all LHS students. Please do not contact a coach &
explain why someone was not at a workout – we understand there are other
things going on & we are not in-season. Winter sport athletes should not try
& attend these workouts – concentrate on your winter sport now; as a
coaching staff, we highly encourage playing a multiple sports.
- “Speed
City” every Monday,
Wednesday, & Thursday in the weight room right after school until
mid-winter break (this is a 6 week speed training session). Each session will last roughly 75
minutes.
Please contact Head Coach, Brian Hartman, @ 837 4825 (hartmanb@issaquah.wednet.edu) if you have any
questions about tryouts, winter workouts, and most other issues. Please contact Mrs. Lorbeski @ 837 4806 (lorbeskis@issaquah.wednet.edu)
for questions regarding paperwork, physicals, & initial eligibility
requirements.
