5-5-11 - BOYS WIN ISD, GIRLS 2ND

Ending the season with a perfect record, the boys came through, scoring 69pts, Issaquah @ 58 & Skyline @ 54.

The Skyline girls had 72pts, Liberty @ 60.5 & Issaquah @ 56.5.  Amy Broska had 2 wins to lead the girls.

4-30-11 - BOYS 4TH @ SHORELINE.  With Josh Gordon again taking home 4 medals & Devin Bennett with 3, the boys tied defending 3A State Champ North Central in the 78 team field.  Best times of the year were recorded by Devin, Hiron Redmon, Aaron Bowe & the 1600 Relay team.  At the Girls Lake Washington Invite, the 1600 Relay team posted their seasons best without the services of Maddie Birdsall to take 2nd.  Seasons best were recorded by Megan Larson & Aimee Christensen.

4-28-11 - Both the Boys & Girls teams triumphed @ Interlake.  With the Field events carrying the day, the Girls won again 87 ~ 54 led by another school record for Maddie Birdsall in the 400.

The Boys were led by Hamilton Noel who went 13' 6" in the Pole Vault to claim the school record, winning 85 ~ 56.  With sweeps in the Jav & Disc, a perfect record was preserved for the year.

Boys 1st, Girls 3rd @ Viking Relays

4-23-11 - Under clear blue skies, the Patriots had great performances from lots of athletes.  Josh Gordon added almost a foot to his Long Jump record, going 23' 7.5" with a 3A leading leap.

Amy Broska celebrated her B'Day by winning the 1600.

Hamilton Noel went 13' for the 1st time in the Pole Vault, just missing the school Record @ 13' 6".  Both Boys & Girls 1600 relay teams came home winners with their best times of the year.  Josh & Devin both came home with 4 medals each (to go with their sunburns) and there were also top 3 finishes in the Long Jump, Triple Jump, Pole Vault, Distance Medley for the boys & Distance Medley for the Girls.

4-21-11 - Even though the sun didn't shine as promised, Maddie Birdsall delivered a school record in the 400 as she led to girls to another Kingco win, 96 ~ 54 against visiting Jaunita.  Emily Pestil-Dimmit and Josh Gordon each won 4 events, with the boys also winning easily 92 ~ 52.  Other double winners were Kevin Ahrens in the Shot & Disc and Amy Broska in the 1600 & 3200.

4-16-11 - With the team title for Boys on the line, a communication error caused the 1600 relay team to miss their race.  After a cold, wet day, the relay was reseeded prior to the start and the in the confusion, Liberty's new heat was started without them.  Some very unhappy athletes and coaches were the result, the winning time was 2 sec. slower than the team's prev. best, and 10pts and team title were within reach.  Pizza after the meet helped.

The girls also helped take away some of the sting by taking 2nd in their 1600 relay (after placing 4th in the 800R earlier), battling Skyline to the wire to a season's best time.  Up until the relay, it had been a good meet for Liberty athletes, Josh Gordon had a best in the High Jump, clearing 6'4" - 3rd, breaking his school record again the Long Jump going 22' 8.5" - 2nd, and taking 4th in the 200.  Other medalists were Devin Bennett, 3rd in TJ, 6th - 400 & LJ;  Hiron Redmon, 3rd - 800m; Hamilton Noel, 4th - PV; Boys DMR (Scott & Chris Turner, Dawson Solly, Mason Goodman) - 5th.  Just missing a medal in 9th in the 3200 was Rachel Shaw, only the 2nd Liberty girl ever to break 12 min.

4-15-11 - With (for the PNW) great jumping weather, the Boys PV competition was held with Hamilton Noel (12' 6"), Chase Kenney (12' 0), Matt Morris (10'), Forest Hurley (9' 6") & Oliver Issa (9') all hitting season's best heights to take home the team victory.  With Mt. Si's best mark @ 10' 6", the 1 ~ 2 finish gave Liberty a 73 ~ 72 win.

4-14-11 - With the consensus of all present that the weather was pretty awful, the Girls continued undefeated for the year with a 96 ~ 45 win over visiting Mt. Si.  Leading the girls with 2 wins was Emily Pestil-Dimmit with the relay teams winning all 3 of their races.  Despite 4 indiv. wins for Josh Gordon, a sweep of the Throws gave the Mt. Si Boys took a  6pt. lead going into the delayed Pole Vault being held Fri.

4-8-11 - Venturing down to CA for Spring Break, Josh Gordon broke his LJ record @ the Arcadia Invite, leaping 22' 7" for a 2nd place finish.  He also jumped 6' 3" in the HJ.

3-31-11 - On the only dry day of the week, both Teams performed hard against Ballard to take home big victories, Boys winning 114 ~ 30, Girls @ 110 ~ 40.  With 4 wins each, Ida Bakke (100H, 300H, LJ & TJ)

and Josh Gordon (100, 200, HJ & LJ) led the way.  Thanks to all our Parents who helped and camera artists who stepped in to get some fine shots, posted on pg.2 in the gallery.

3-26-11 - The Liberty Invite started slow but finished fast with Liberty Men's & Women's teams picking up 1st place trophies.  Led by Male Athlete of the Meet Josh Gordon with 3 golds & a silver, other multiple winners for the boys were Tyler Westenbroek in the 1600 & 3200, Devin Bennett 400 & 1600R and Hiron Redmon 800 & 1600R.  For the girls, the relays carried the day with wins in the 400R, 800R & 1600R. Leaving with 4 golds each were Liz Ryker & Maddie Birdsall, with Delane Agnew netting 3 golds & a bronze and Megan Chucka winning the 1600 & 3200.  Results can be downloaded here. Team Scores are here. Teams can pay from this invoice.

3-24-11 - Josh Gordon had a good day in the 1st League Meet of the season, breaking the oldest Liberty record from 1980 by running a 10.80 100m @ Lake Washington.  Then it was time to break his 2010 Long Jump record by leaping 22' 4.5" (state leading mark).  Other high points were both teams winning, Boys 82-57, Girls 108-39.  Multiple winners were Ida Bakke, Emily Pestil-Dimmit, Delane Agnew, Maddie Birdsall, Liz Ryker, Michaela Chucka, Devin Bennett & Hiron Redmon.  Trevor Merritt had an outstanding improvement in the Jav and there were lots of PR's in the 1600.

3-18-11 - Week 3 ended with rain but the sun almost came out for the Relays held Thurs.  Led by Craig Werre (shown above with the bandage over his self-inflected spiking in the Long Jump), team Goldenrods scored high in all events to snag the coveted 1st pick in the candy box for each of the 4 members.  2nd went to Holly Jones' Team Holly with the Awesome Fantastic's captained by Scott Turner in 3rd.  Complete scoring is here.  With some suspect judging, Devin @ 22' & Josh @ 23' in the Long Jump had the most outstanding marks.  The Turbo Jav did it's best to humble everyone except Dr. T and won't be mentioned further.  The absence of big Bunny kept the 4x100 much closer this year but was deeply missed.  In Fri. time trials, Rachel, Megan L & Aimee all had PR's in the 1600, and much candy was eaten.

3-11-11 - Week 2 ended on a sunny note.  Sprints had relay practices and distances had some racin for candy (after singing B-Day wishes to the Chucka's).   Devin & Megan C ran times that would have made last year's Kingco list, with Tyler W & Michaela pushing into top 25 territory with good efforts for this early in the season.  Honorable mention to Josh who just missed breaking 6 min. in the 1600.  Good things are also happening on the hill with Craig  throwing close to his best already in practice.

3-4-11 - We had a great attendance for our 1st week of Track.  Even though it rained every day, the mats are all out, the hurdles are lining the fence and some tough workouts were completed.

1-22-11 - Cornell Freshman Eric Bice won his 1st collegiate race in taking the 1000 meters in 2:28.67, qualifying for IC4A Indoors.
