5-29 & 30 - State Day 2 & 3 - Friday saw highs in the low 80's which helped Chandler place 13th in the Long Jump with a season's best 20' 5".  Peter Stacy placed 15th in the Discus and 16th in the Javelin.  Kelsey qualifed for the finals in the 200 but did not move on in the 100, Mitchell & Maddie did not move on in the 400.

Saturday was another sunny day, a little cooler with temps around 75 for the high.  The meet started with the girls 4x200 team taking 4th in a school record time, displaying great stick work and fast starts.  Krista tied her & Hannah's 9' 6" school record in 6th with Hannah tied for 8th @ 9'.  Chandler had another best going 44' 1/4" for 6th in the Triple Jump then headed to High Jump where he placed 16th.  Josh Gordon cleared a best 6' to place 14th.  Eric Bice ran close to his season's best in placing 5th in a tight finish in the 1600.  Kelsey was then up again and took 4th in the 200.  The boy's 4x400 team was hit hard by last minute changes.  With Mitchell unable to anchor, Troy limped home to collect the 8th place medal for the team.  The girls 4x400 team than had their best race with bests from everyone on their 400 splits, Kelsey dropping a 56.9 to move from 5th to 2nd on her anchor lap.

5-28-09 - State, Day One - The relay teams all made it through to the finals on Saturday.  The Boys were 3rd in their 4x400 heat with Bryce stepping up to fill-in for an injured Troy and the Girls broke 4 min. for the 1st time since 2006, with a 2nd place run in their heat.  The Girls also qualified 3rd earlier in their 4x200 heat.

5-22-09 - District Championships, Day 2 - The Liberty teams had another fine day with a total of 13 athletes qualifying for State. 3-17-09 - Due to WASL testing, team practice for Weds. is @ 12:30pm.  Weds. is also Uniform hand-out day being held during practice.  Three heats of 4x100m were contested to decide the winner of the PB Relays with results to be announced at the Jamboree on Thurs. @ Skyline (order of events for Thurs only here).  Parent night was a success with lots of new faces and volunteers for upcoming meets.  Meet assignment sheets will be e-mailed out later to all parent volunteers.

3-13-09 -  The sort-of annual Polar Bear relays were held today at practice.  With 17 teams of 4, the track was buzzing with excitement during the 3 events contested (100m, 400m & LJ) with the 4x100m relay to be held Tuesday to crown the winning team.  Current scores are a closely guarded secret to be revealed at Tuesday's final event.  Really old cookies and candy await the winning team along with  home page photos and bragging rights for the year.  Sign-ups for home meet volunteers were sent to all parents who've provided e-mail addresses on Thurs. with a number of early responses.  The list will also be brought to parent night.

3-4-09 - With 3 days complete, the Liberty team still has room for more athletes.  Please see Ms. Lorbeski for paperwork and turn it in asap.  Track rules need to handed in on Fri., forms are here.  The coaches are very happy with the attitude and hard work displayed so far.  Coming up soon is the 3rd annual Polar Bear Relays for fun & prizes.

1-28-09 - Over 50 Patriots turned out for the 2009 team meeting today, with lots of new faces.  Key points discussed: 1) Speed City continues after school, Mon-Tues-Thurs on the field.  Being active in the weeks before our 1st Practice on Mar. 2nd leads to fewer injuries at the beg. of the season.       2) Please get your paperwork turned into the office asap, get a physical if you need one.     3) Encourage your friends to turn out for Track.    4) Buy new shoes before the season starts.  Foot Zone for ex. offers a discount for Liberty athletes.

Please e-mail or contact the coaches with any questions regarding equipment, conditioning, meets, rules, etc.

We're looking forward to a great season with another great group of athletes.

If you need a field trip form, get it here.
