The Track Dessert Banquet was held on Friday June 5th
in the Commons. This year's major award winners were:
Kelsey Werre - Outstanding Female Athlete, Hannah Blue - Most
Improved Female, Alli Agnew - Most Inspirational Female, Peter
Stacy - Outstanding Male Dual Meets, Chandler Jenkins -
Outstanding Male Post Season, Eric Bice - Most Improved.
Fines have gone out athletes who haven't turned in missing gear.
Please turn in any equip to the office, all fines must be
cleared to participate in Fall Sports.
Visit the XC web site for info on the 2009 season, all Track
athletes should consider XC in the fall as a great way to stay
in shape for 2010 T&F.
5-29 & 30 - State Day 2 & 3 - Friday saw highs in the low
80's which helped Chandler place 13th in the Long Jump with a
season's best 20' 5". Peter Stacy placed 15th in the
Discus and 16th in the Javelin. Kelsey qualifed for the
finals in the 200 but did not move on in the 100, Mitchell &
Maddie did not move on in the 400.
Saturday was another sunny day, a little cooler with temps
around 75 for the high. The meet started with the girls
4x200 team taking 4th in a school record time, displaying great
stick work and fast starts. Krista tied her & Hannah's 9'
6" school record in 6th with Hannah tied for 8th @ 9'.
Chandler had another best going 44' 1/4" for 6th in the Triple
Jump then headed to High Jump where he placed 16th. Josh
Gordon cleared a best 6' to place 14th. Eric Bice ran
close to his season's best in placing 5th in a tight finish in
the 1600. Kelsey was then up again and took 4th in the
200. The boy's 4x400 team was hit hard by last minute
changes. With Mitchell unable to anchor, Troy limped home
to collect the 8th place medal for the team. The girls
4x400 team than had their best race with bests from everyone on
their 400 splits, Kelsey dropping a 56.9 to move from 5th to 2nd
on her anchor lap.
5-28-09 - State, Day One - The relay teams all made it
through to the finals on Saturday. The Boys were 3rd in
their 4x400 heat with Bryce stepping up to fill-in for an
injured Troy and the Girls broke 4 min. for the 1st time since
2006, with a 2nd place run in their heat. The Girls also
qualified 3rd earlier in their 4x200 heat.
5-22-09 - District Championships, Day 2 - The
Liberty teams had another fine day with a total of 13 athletes
qualifying for State. Leading the charge was Kelsey in
qualifying for 4! events, placing 3rd in the 100, 2nd in the 200
(school record time), 4th in the 800 relay (getting spiked in
both legs in the process) and anchoring the 1600 relay to 2nd
with a 57.9 split for a season best 4:02.45. In field
events, Josh was 3rd @ 5-10" in the High Jump and Chandler 5th
at the same height. Chandler came back for 3rd in the Long
Jump with Devin 6th. Peter Stacy was 4th in the Discus and
Hannah & Krista both move on in the Pole Vault with Hannah in
2nd and Krista in 4th. Both Mitchell & Maddie qualified in
the 400 by running 3rd & 5th respectively. The girls 4x100
team just missed by placing 6th, improving again on their time
for the year. In the final event of the meet, the boys
came through with the win with great legs from Eric, Devin &
Troy to give Mitchell the lead at the final exchange. The
girls also had great splits in their 1600 relay with everyone in
the 61's with Kelsey taking the baton in 4th and blasting the
fastest Patriot 400 relay split on record. In team
scoring, the Boys were 4th overall and #1 Kingco.
5-20-09 - District Championships, Day 1
In a great 1st day of Track
& Field action. Liberty had 2 champions on Weds.
Chandler Jenkins had a massive 2 1/2' improvement to win
the Triple Jump, going over 43' for the 1st time with a
43' 7" leap. Eric Bice smashed his week old 1600 record
by 5 sec to win for the 2nd week in a row running
4:17.18 in a dramatic home straight sprint. Peter
Stacy took 3rd in the Javelin with a personal best of
169' 7". Also placing in the Triple Jump was Devin
Bennett.
Qualifying races saw Kelsey
Werre moving on in the 100 (breaking the school record
again) & 200, the girls 4x100, 4x200 & 4x400 teams
advancing, the boys 4x400 team and Mitchell Byron &
Maddie Birdsall in the 400.
5-13 thru 5-15-09 - Kingco Championships
It was a great meet for the
Liberty athletes. Both teams finished 3rd overall and there
were many great performances and 3 school records broken.
On the 1st day of the Kingco
Track Championships, Junior Eric Bice broke his school
record in becoming Liberty's 1st ever 1600 meter
champion. Running 4:22 in a steady rain, Eric led a
good 1st days performance by also winning his 800 heat.
Other prelim winners were Kelsey Werre in the 100 & 200,
Maddie Birdsall in the 400, Mitchell Byron in the 400
and Troy Solly in the 300 hurdles. Chandler Jenkins &
Devin Bennet took 3rd & 4th in the Long Jump, Peter
Stacey was 4th in the Javelin, Christina Huff and Amanda
Bard were 6th & 7th in the Javelin and Alex Whitman was
8th in the Shot.
Thurs. was a nice sunny
reprieve from the wet at the JV meet. A small group
went to Mercer Island and performed well. results to be
added to Athletic.Net by Monday.
Friday's meet started off
with Peter Stacy placing 2nd in the Disc. The top 4 3A
finishers advance to District next week. Next up was
the 1st girls victory in the 800 relay with their best
time of the year. A fast 2nd place run by Emily Pestl-Dimmit
in the 100 hurdles was next followed by Kelsey winning
the 100 in a school record 12.46 with Alex Leonard
finishing
6th in the boys 100.
The girls 4x100 team were
5th but ahead of them was 2A Interlake so they continue
next week, though boys won't in finishing 6th. Mitchell
Byron cruised to victory in the 400 with Devin Bennet in
4th and Ryan Agnew 8th. Maddie Birdsall followed in the
same fashion winning the girls 400 with Alli Agnew in
6th. Troy Solly & Liz Ryker were both 6th in the 300
hurdles. Eric Bice was outleaned at the tape in an epic
800 losing by 1/100 of a second. Kelsey came up with
win #3 in the 200 with Alex Leonard 3rd in his
200. Following was the 3200 with Josiah Sherwood coming
in 5th with Connor Moseley in 8th.
During the track racing, the
jumpers were racking up points. Haile Erickson placed
5th in the HJ but was 4th 3A so goes on and Chandler
Jenkins & Josh (Flash) Gordon went 2,3 in the boys HJ.
Chandler & Devin went at it again in the Triple Jump
with Devin busting an almost 2' improvement to get 2nd
with Chandler also pr'ing in 4th. In the Pole Vault,
Krista Lockhart won by tying the school record, with
Hannah Robbins also tying the record in placing 3rd.
David Palzer & Kevin Tu were 8th & 11th in the boys PV.
Sofie Safley, Christina Huff & Lexie McGinnis went 6,8,9
in the Shot.
Then it
was time for the ending 1600 relays where both the
favored boys & girls teams came through with victories.
Attached is the sched. for
the District meet at SW Complex (Across from Chief
Sealth HS). There may be some adds since we have a
couple of 5th pos. alternates and scratches are due
Monday.
There will be a track
workout at Liberty on Sun @ 3pm for any interested
athletes.
5-7-09 - In a close battle to the end, Issaquah
managed to hang on to win the ISD meet in the boys division.
Liberty came close with the final score Iss @ 65.5, Lib @ 61 &
Skyline @ 43.5 with the Pole Vault being held Friday.
Another big day was put in by Peter Stacy with 2 wins and a 2nd.
Individual winners included Eric Bice, Mitchell Byron, Alex
Leonard & Devin Bennett. The girls were outgunned by their
larger 4A rivals with Skyline @ 86, Iss @ 65 and Liberty @ 25.
Only Sofie Safley came out on top but the 1600 relay team won
the final event with the 2nd best time in 3A, minutes after boys
did the same thing in their relay.
5-2-09 - With SAT's and prom being held the same
day, 2 record performances were still recorded at the last
Invites of the year. Krista Lockhart added 6" to the Pole
Vault mark set last year and Eric Bice took 2 sec. off the 1600
best. Next up is the Issaquah Dist. Meet @ Skyline on
Thurs.
4-30-09 - Both the Boys & Girls defeated Lake
Washington at home, the boys scoring 93-51 and the girls 92-53.
For the girls, Kelsey had 2 individual wins with 1 win each to
Christina Huff, Sofie Safley, Amanda Bard, Maddie Birdsall,
Kaily Davies, Hailie Erikson and Hannah Blue.
On the boys side, Chandler Jenkins and Peter Stacy both had 2
wins plus a 2nd. With 1 win each were Eric Bice, Mitchell
Byron, Connor Moseley & Josiah Sherwood.
4-25-09 - The girls 4x400 team capped a 19 personal best
day at the Bellevue Invite by winning the final race of the day.
Almost every Patriot who participated had an outstanding day
with Connor Moseley & Devin Bennett getting 2 PB's.
4-23-09
- In one of the closest meets in recent years, 4A Garfield
won the 3 way Boys meet with 61, Liberty 59 and Mt. Si 58.
Leading the Patriots with 2 wins were Mitchell Byron & Eric Bice.
A win & a 2nd were recorded by Chandler Jenkins & Peter Stacey.
Devin Bennett rounded out the indiv. winners and the score was
kept close by the team effort of all the placers. The
girls team title was won convincingly by Mt. Si with 104 points,
with Liberty defeating Garfield 46 to 38. Kelsey Werre
dominated the winners circle with 4 wins. Other winners
were Maddie Birdsall, Christina Huff and the 4x200/4x400 team.
4-18-09 - After a full day of track action, the Boys &
Girls 4x400 teams posted their fastest times of the year, each
placing 2nd at the Eason Invite. The Boys Distance Medley
Relay (Connor Moseley, Brandon Thomas, Josh Gordon & Tyler
Westenbroek) started the day with a 7th place medal and were
followed by Kelsey placing 3rd in the 100 and 3rd in the 200
before coming back to anchor the 4x400. Kelsey's 100 time
was .04 off the school record.
4-16-09 - In a very tight battle throughout the meet, the
Patriot Boys pulled off the win with some fine jumping, beating
Redmond 74 ~ 71. Chandler Jenkins & Devin Bennett went 1-2
in the Long Jump & Triple Jump with Peter Stacy piling up 13
points on the hill. Other winners were Mitchell Byron in
the 400, Alex Leonard in the 200 and Josh Gordon in the High
Jump. The girls had a much tougher time even with double
winner Kelsey Werre (100, 200) having another great day, losing
100 ~ 50. Other Liberty winners were Maddie Birdsall in
the 400, Amanda Bard in the Discus & Sofie Safley in the Shot.
4-13-09 - After a week off for Spring Break, track begins
the stretch run to the Kingco Meet. Thurs is a home meet
against Redmond with the Eason Invite on Sat. @ Snohomish High.

4-4-09 - The Liberty Girls won overall honors
with the Boys in 2nd @ the Liberty Invite. Go here for

volunteers from the press box to the timers to judges in the
field events and concession stand. The weather was finally
nice and we had some great performances.

4-2-09 - With periods of drenching rain @ Bellevue
Stadium, Patriot athletes came to compete. With the
a slim lead going into the 1600 relay, the team of Merritt,
Agnew, Bennett & Solly pulled away to give the boys a 77.5 to
67.5 victory. Led by double winners Eric Bice (with
personal bests in the 800 & 1600) & Peter Stacy, Liberty had a
balanced attack with wins by Connor Mosely in the 3200, Alex
Leonard in the 200, Josh Gordon in the High Jump, Chandler
Jenkins in the Long Jump & Devin Bennett in the Triple Jump.
The girls also competed hard but fell just short, losing 78
to 72. Again leading with 4 wins was Kelsey Werre.
Other winners were Maddie Birdsall in the 400, Krista Lockhart
in the Pole Vault, Christina Huff in the Jav and Emily Pestl-Dimmit
in the 100 hurdles
3-26-09 - In the 1st home meet of the year with no rain
in sight, Kelsey Werre picked up her 4th win of the day by
anchoring her 1600 relay team to a 3A state best time. Other
big winners were: Peter Stacy with 3 wins and Christina
Huff with 2 in the throws & Eric Bice with 2 wins in the 1600 &
800. Individual winners included Alli Agnew in the 300 hurdles,
Amanda Bard - Discus, Krista Lockhart -Pole Vault, Chandler
Jenkins - Long Jump and Josh Gordon in the High Jump. The Boys
team was narrowly defeated 73 ~ 72 with the girls losing 80 ~
69. The Liberty parent volunteers did a great job in
running the meet.
