LIBERTY TRACK

2007

The main purpose for attending Liberty is an educational one.  For this reason, all rules and regulations of the school must be followed.  Any suspension from school will result in an automatic suspension from the Track team.  Attendance is mandatory for all classes or suspension may be invoked.

As coaches, we will help and back you as much as we can.  If you are cutting classes or are behind in you work, you will make it almost impossible for us to intervene on your behalf.  We will do what we can for you, but remember, we are "teachers" first and coaches second, just as you are a student first and an athlete second.  We do not like students cutting “our” classes or coming in late and not doing their work.  For this reason, we will back your other teachers.

We expect you to be on time for practices and meets, to come prepared and to work hard.  If you do the same in school you will have no problems and will make it easier for both of us.  If you would like to talk to us about any problems, we are more than willing to talk with you and do what we can to help you.  It might be necessary to set up a time to meet before or after practice, just let us know.  If your parents would like to talk to either of us coaches, we would be glad to meet with them at a pre-arranged time.

The bottom line is that you have a successful season both on and off the Track.  Your hard work, dedication and attitude will determine your success.  Let’s have a GREAT YEAR!

Track Rules

I.      All School Rules Apply to Athletes and Managers

A.   If you do not attend all classes you are ineligible to practice or compete that day.

B.    Anyone caught in possession or under the influence of alcohol, drugs or tobacco will be suspended from the team.

C.    Because you can wear hats at school, you can wear hats at practice as long as they are appropriate. If a coach feels your hat is not appropriate then you must remove it immediately.  No Hats worn at meets once you leave the stands. That means NO Hats on the field or track.

II.    Practices

A.   All athletes are expected to attend all practices; there are exceptions, but those must be cleared BEFORE PRACTICE with a Head Coach.

B.    Practices will begin ON TIME; we are not fans of excuses, therefore we’d rather know ahead of time about a possible delay.

C.    You are expected to participate at practice.

D.   If you cannot make it to practice, but are at school, leave a note in our box.  Missing practice must be excused or you may be suspended from the next competition or the team.

E.    If you don’t show up for practice, the first time will result in a warning, next suspension from competition, after that you may be asked to turn in your gear.

F.    COMMUNICATE WITH THE HEAD COACHES.  IT IS HELPFUL!!!

G.   You can wear hats only at practice if they are appropriate. And wearing it    only with bill straight forward or in reverse. NOT Sideways.

III.  Meets

A.   You must be at the bus or gym at arranged time.

1.     Bus will leave as scheduled; if you miss the bus you will not compete.

2.     If you miss a Meet you may be suspended, unless cleared before-hand.

3.     You are expected to ride the bus to and from the meets.  If this is a problem, we will work something out ahead of time.

4.     If you want to ride with another parent, you must fill out a trip permit for each meet you want to ride with someone other then your parents.

Do this in advance so it is all signed and turned in. you can get the form on the track web site.

5.     Parents must sign out their Athletes to take home from away meets.

6.     Appropriate Hats only worn in the stands. NOT on Track or Field.

B.    You are responsible for your own equipment.  If you forget something, it is up to you to replace it.  We will work with you, but we won’t be handing out gear more then once.

C.    Anyone ejected from a meet is automatically suspended from the next competition. If the next competition is an Invitational, you will miss the entire Invitational. A second time you will be suspended for the rest of the season.
