Welcome to 2007 Liberty Cross Country

At the conclusion of the 2007 season, top honors were handed out to:  Freddie Wilhelm & Jordan Hanson - Most Outstanding;  Eric Bice & Hannah Sherwood - Most Improved      

ANNOUNCEMENTS

11-3-07 - STATE 2007 - Under sunny skies in Pasco, Freddie Wilhelm finished in 42nd place with Eric Bice in 13 sec. back in 60th.  Kingco/Metro teams dominated the final standings with Seattle Prep 2nd, Issaquah 3rd, Blanchet 6th and Bellevue 7th.

LONGEST STATE STREAKS EXTENDED:
The Blanchet boys will make their 30th consecutive State appearance and 41st overall, both Washington state records.
 
MOST ACCOMPLISHED 2007 TEAMS NOT TO QUALIFY:
These aren't necessarily the BEST teams not in the Pasco field, but those whose record during the season was most impressive.
 
3A boys: Liberty (Issaquah). The Patriots placed 2nd of 51 at Fort Steilacoom, 6th of 40 at Sunfair, and 2nd of 12 at Fort Worden. In a tough Sea-King District meet they came up 7 points short of qualifying for their first-ever State berth.
 

10-25-07 - Boys send 2 to State - In a tight race for the 4th team spot for State, Bishop Blanchet edged out the Patriots 115 ~ 122.  The 5th place finish is the highest ever for the boys team and the 1st time two indiv. in the same race have qualified.  Blanchet, 2004 3A State Champions have gone to State for 30 years and the boys managed to beat Skyline for the 1st time in 4 years.  The girls were led by Hannah Sherwood in 34th and Jordan Hanson in 37th.

10-18-07 - Boys & Girls Qualify for District meet - At a windy Kingco Championships, making the All-Kingco team by finishing 8th & 9th were Senior Freddie Wilhelm & Soph Eric Bice.  The boys finished 4th overall, 8 points behind Skyline.  The girls were led by Senior Hannah Sherwood in 22nd overall and finished 6th as a team. 

10-10-07 - Boys fall to top ten rivals, girls split the difference - In a match-up of 3 top ten 3A teams, Issaquah, with 4 runners seperated by only 2 seconds, came out on top in the Boys race with 36 points, Skyline @ 45 and Liberty with 48.  Leading the Patriots were Eric Bice in 3rd, Freddie Wilhelm in 5th and Josiah Sherwood in 6th.  The Skyline girls won easily with 26 points to Liberty @ 38 and Issaquah with 67.  Jordan Hanson finished 2nd followed by Madison Birdsall in 3rd and Hannah Sherwood in 6th.

10-6-07 - Boys tie for 1st @ Ft. Worden Invite - With 50 points each, Liberty was tied with #8 in 4A North Kitsap, with the tiebreaker being their 6th man finishing 3 sec. ahead of Liberty's.  The cold, windy weather didn't slow Freddie Wilhelm (4th), Eric Bice (5th) or Josiah Sherwood (7th) as they all recorded from 40 sec. to 1 min. improvements on the course. 

10-3-07 - Running thru thunder and drenching rain, the Liberty girls (4-4)turned in a strong performance against Bellevue yesterday, narrowly losing 30-38.  Led by Jordan Hanson in 4th,  Hannah Sherwood finished 5th, Maddie Birdsall was 8th, Sarah Goodman 9th, with Becky Dodt in 12th overall.  In the Boys race, #3 Bellevue cruised to an easy 23-39 over the Patriot runners (6-2), who were led by Freddie Wilhelm in 3rd, Eric Bice in 4th, Josiah Sherwood 9th, Ian Smith 10th, and Mitchell Byron running his first race of the year placing 13th.

9-29-07 - Boys 6th overall, 3rd in 3A @ Sunfair - With a big lean, Freddie Wilhelm led the boys with fastest Liberty time of the day and saved a 3rd place trophy finish, with the top 4 3A schools separated by 6 points.  The boys ribboned (top 15) in 6 of 7 varsity races for the day.

9-26-07 - Liberty Loses 29-31 to Issaquah - The boys (5-1) lost their 1st meet @ #5 Issaquah after going 2(Bice), 3(Wilhelm), 4(Smith) & 7(Sherwood).  The Eagles depth won the meet with both teams defeating Newport with 74 points.  The #2 Newport girls won easily with a perfect 15 points, but strong performances from Jordan Hanson & Hannah Sherwood helped the Lady Pats (3-3) defeat Issaquah 61 - 64.  Next up is Sunfair in Yakima on Sat., more info can be found @ http://www.sunfairrun.com/.

Kingco Places 4 teams in 3A top ten - With Bellevue @ #4, Issaquah @ #5, Liberty moved up 2 spots to #7 to Skyline's #8 ranking this week.  The Patriots race the Eagles this Weds. at Issaquah.

9-19-07 - Liberty Boys Triumph - In a close race to the end, the boys, led by Eric Bice in 3rd, scored 28 to Skyline's 30 to go up 4-0 for the year.  The boys captured 3 ~ 6th place to secure the victory and win over Interlake as well.  The boys team entered the week as  #9 in 3A with Skyline @ #5.  Jordan again led all girls with a 3rd place finish, followed by Hannah Sherwood in 6th.  Skyline girls scored 24 to Liberty's 45 and Interlake's 62.  The girls are now 2-2 on the year.

9-15-07 - Liberty Boys 2nd @ Ft. Steilacoom Invite - Led by Freddie Wilhelm with a 20th place finish, the 1st 4 runners were seperated by 7 secs. and were 2nd of 43 teams racing, 1st in 3A.  Jordan Hanson led the girls with a 45th place finish, 32 sec. faster than in 2006.

9-12-07 - Liberty boys win - Led by Eric Bice with a fine win, the boys beat Mercer Island and Mt. Si @ Mt. Si's fast, flat course.  Following close behind were Freddie & Ian in 3rd and 4th overall with Josiah Sherwood in 11th & Evan Egerstrom in 13th to score 32 points to MI's 37 and Mt. Si's 54.  The girls were led by Jordan Hanson in 6th & Hannah Sherwood in 7th in a losing battle to a strong Islander team (22 points) but were able to hold on the defeat Mt. Si's girls 50 to 58.

9-8-07 - Capital Invite - With fine finishes by Eric Bice in the Soph race and Ian Smith & Freddie Wilhelm in the Senior race, Liberty placed 7th overall in the boys competition.  Hannah Sherwood and Jordan Hanson finished within 6 seconds of each other but the girls only had 4 scorers competing.


9-6-07 - Kingco Jamboree - Liberty's 1st race was Thurs. at Lk. Sammamish.  Congrats to Madison Birdsall and Eric Bice for winning their class race.  Other top 5 finishers were Ian Smith & Freddie Wilhelm in the Senior Boys race, Hannah Sherwood in the girls Senior race & Josiah Sherwood in Soph Boys race.
