Welcome to 2008 Liberty Cross Country

11-18-08 - XC Party - In celebration for another great season, the team gathered at the Bice's to honor this year's runners.  Most Outstanding Male was Eric Bice, Most Outstanding Female was Kaily Davies and Most Improved was Scott Turner.  Special recognition was given to 4 year Varsity Letter winner Sarah Goodman.

11-8-08 - STATE - On a fast course in Pasco, Kaily Davies (44th) ran her season's best time, just missing breaking 20:00, while running the fastest Liberty girl's time ever at State.  Eric Bice (50th, 16:42) improved almost 50 sec. from last years meet and was just 6 sec. off Colin Smith's 2004 Patriot best of 16:36.  Josiah also ran a strong race to finish in 17:19 for 90th overall.

10-30-08 - 3 TO STATE -  While the team race for the boys ended up being very rough and Scott (61st) & Brandon (64th) got bloodied, everyone ran hard and performed well.  Overall, the boys were 7th place, with Nathan Hale & Lakeside fighting it out for the 5th spot.  Connor was 46th, Alex in 51st and Riley was 74th. As individuals, Liberty qualified 3 runners for the 1st time with Eric in 12th, Josiah in 22nd and Kaily in 16th.  Sarah ran tough for a 55th overall position.  The open race was rough for Chris, who also got sucked into the gravel at the start, but managed to finish the race.

10-23-08 -  At a sunny Kingco 3A Cross Country Championships, Junior Eric Bice placed 2nd overall to lead the boys to a 3rd place team finish.  Eric's 2nd is the highest ever placing for a Liberty runner in a Kingco Final.  Also in the top 20 were Josiah Sherwood in 11th and Alex Valesqeuz in 20th.  Freshman Kaily Davies led the girls with an 8th place overall with Senior Sarah Goodman in 19th.  Both Kaily & Sarah along with the boys Varsity team will race at the District finals for State Berths next Thurs. at Lower Woodland.

10-15-08 - Skyline won both Boys & Girls team honors at the ISD meet held at Liberty.  Kaily Davies was 2nd overall, besting the previous course record for the girls.  All the girls had better times on Liberty's course. Eric Bice led the boys with a 3rd place finish, also bettering the old course record.  For the year, the boys were 7-5 and the girls went 2-10.

10-11-08 - Ft. Worden at Pt. Townsend was the backdrop for a perfect fall day for racing.  With a new course this year that wasn't quite 3 miles, the Patriots recorded fast times.  The boys team was 3rd overall, led by Eric Bice's 6th place, followed by Josiah Sherwood in 13th, Scott Turner 24th, Connor Mosely 30th, Brandon Thomas 31st, Riley Mackey 34th & Tyler Westenbroek 38th.  Ahren Stroming was 4th in the JV race followed by Chris Turner in 8th, Nick Knoblich in 12th, Jordan Rawley in 36th and Brayden Williams in 41st.  The girls didn't field a full team but Kaily Davies medaled in 9th with Sarah Goodman in 17th.  In the JV race, Jill Sorteburg was 4th and Maddie Kohm in 11th.

                                                             (racing is fun at Liberty)

10-8-08 - Out-leaned at the tape, Eric Bice's 2nd place helped the Patriots to a 2nd place team finish at Kelsey Creek Park.  Also in the top 10 were Josiah Sherwood in 6th and Alex Velasquez in 10th.  Bellevue won with 23 points, Liberty @ 42, Mt. Si @ 86, Woodinville @ 93 & Lake Wash. @ 104.  The boys are now 7-3 for the year.  Leading the girls again was Kaily Davies in 5th place followed by Sarah Goodman in 12th.  Woodinville won the team race with 39 points, Bellevue @ 47, Mt. Si  @ 64, Liberty @ 92 & Lake Wash. @ 106.  The girls are 2-8 for the year.

10-4-08 - Eric Bice led the boys team to a 4th place 3A team finish at Sunfair with the 2nd fastest 3A time (18th overall), improving on his time from 2007.  Also recording improvements for 2008 were Alex Velasquez & Sarah Goodman with Freshman Kaily Davies running the fastest time for a Patriot girl since Beryln Bale's 2006 best.

9-24-08 - Liberty's 1st home meet showcased the Patriot runners and parent volunteers with an outstanding contest.  Eric Bice missed the course record by 2 sec. with a convincing win, leading the boys to 1st overall with 40 points.  2nd was Inglemoor @ 56, Roosevelt @ 57 & Garfield @ 71.  Rounding out the top ten were Josiah Sherwood in 3rd and Alex Velasquez in 8th.   The girls were led again by Freshman Kaily Davies in 9th & Maddie Birdsall in 11th, with the team just missing placing 3rd by 1 point.

9-20-08 - Led by Eric Bice in 28th, the boys were 13th overall at the Ft. Steilacoom Invite.  The girls were led by Kaily Davies in 46th for a 27th place overall team finish.

9-17-08 - 4A Skyline hosted the 1st regular season meet @ Klahanie Park and defeated a strong Redmond team in the boys race 31 ~ 34 with Liberty @ 64 and Sammamish with 104 points.  Eric Bice was the Patriot's top finisher in 4th with Josiah Sherwood in 9th.  The Redmond girls easily won, scoring 25 points, followed by Skyline - 38, Liberty - 83 and Samm. @ 91.  Sarah Goodman finished 10th to lead the girls.

9-2-08 - After 1 week, the team looked great heading down the Cedar River trail.  There's still time to sign-up for the season, see Ms. Lorbeski to register.  Parents are requested to attend Sports Night @ 6:30p tonite in the auditorium to get all their Liberty Sports & XC questions answered.

8-27-08 - Halfway through the 1st week shows great promise for the upcoming year.  13 new runners so far have turned out, helping to offset the loss of last years large group of Seniors.  With the cool weather, it already feels like fall.

8-20-08 - Last week of runner's choice for team runs from Liberty.  1st practice of the 2008 season is Monday the 25th, 3pm at the track.  Please make sure you've gotten your paperwork in and paid your fees before Monday.

7-25-08 - The link to the home page was down for a bit, thanks to Chris for the heads-up.  Camp was this week for a bunch of the boys, today is Bellevue Arts Fair Lemonade Fund-Raiser for Track & XC.  Summer runs have been a modest success with a couple of regulars.  As we get into the last month of summer everyone should be trying to get in a solid base, come on over to the school if you want to run with the group (girl's too).

6-18-08 - With school complete for most, summer running is just around the corner.  Coach Beck & Coach Smith will be at Liberty, Monday June 23rd, 9am for the 1st of our summer runs.  By popular vote, 9am was chosen for our weekday (Mon-Wed-Fri) runs, distance will vary by ability.  As we get into the summer we'll discuss field trips to interesting locations.  We'll meet near the office until further notice.  All athletes, past Patriots and parents are welcome to run, the more we have, the more groups we can make.
