                             The Legend of The Mountain

Scene: Mount Constitution, Orcas Island, XC Camp

Ahren Stroming, Chris Turner, and Nick Knoblich are about half way up the trail to the observation tower at the summit. All are running, but soon notice a man coming up behind them on the trail. He is wearing tightly laced heavy leather hiking boots, wool socks, brown cargo shorts, and no shirt. He also has thick, long dreadlocks in a loose pony tail. The three Liberty runners eventually stop to let him pass after he gains for several switchbacks.
Their conversation as he runs past:

Ahren: "Hey!"
Dreadlock "Mountain Man*: "Hi. How are you guys doing?"
Ahren: "Doing alright. Looks like you are doing better than us though."
Dreadlock Mountain Man*: "Nah. You just gotta let the mountain feed ya man. Feel the energy flowing up into your boots. Let the mountain feed you!"
Ahren: "Alright."

*Spoken in very stereotypical hippie tones

We later passed Dreadlock Mountain Man. He was standing with his eyes closed and his hands pressed together up to his lips at a clearing in the trees. He again caught up, but then turned around and headed back down. He did loops on the switchback while he waited for what we presume to be his girlfriend. He was later seen in passing by the rest of the team. He is now forever imortalized on the t-shirts of the 2009 Liberty Cross-Country team. His message is now the season's motto.
